Pigeonhole Problem

“If you put a number of pigeons into a smaller number of holes, then at least one hole must hold more than one bird.” Not so. The pigeonholes are mounted a few inches from the wall and have no back, like post office boxes. When a pigeon in the hole sees another coming in, it escapes out the rear. Thus, there is never more than one pigeon in a hole, no matter how many there are to begin with.
